The past weekend I photographed a show at Teatre-Auditori, Sant Cugat, a large & modern theatre about 40 minutes drive from Barcelona. The production, 'Federico García', based upon the life of famed Spanish writer Federico García Lorca, was written, directed & narrated by Pep Tosar. Other members of the cast fulfil duties of music, dance & narration, complimented with a historical selection of related projections, strategically displayed against a huge, fine mesh screen hung between the players & the audience; altogether, providing an ambitious & engaging experience of music, dance & story.

Catalunya is currently in a state of political crisis, it's people entangled in a struggle between authoritarian containment by the Spanish government & sovereign liberation to independence. Through lack of sufficient education on the broader ramifications of the advent of an independant Catalunya, I offer no opinion on the issue.
I do, however, support the right of all people to determine their own future circumstances by democratic vote.
Among the thousands of events occurring throughout Catalunya in response to the current urgent political situation, I recently photographed a street butoh performance in Barcelona made by Oracles Theatre in support of the democratic right to vote.
Throughout the, approximately, hour-long duration of the performance many people stopped to photograph & film the players, some even participating.
Here is an example of how art, brought to the streets, can stimulate emotionally, provoke critical thought & bring people together, with both seriousness & humour.

Over the last week I've been working with Oracles Teatre, as photographer & technician, as they've intensively put together a four player cabaret. Here I present a collection of photographs I took during the rehearsals.
The new show, 'Hyde Cabaret', will be played for two nights over the 5th & 6th september, that's today & tomorrow, from 8pm with taquilla inversa. Click this link for details.

On the afternoon of August 17th this year the driver of a van ploughed through crowds of people along La Rambla, a busy avenue in the heart of Barcelona, Catalunya, killing several & injuring scores of others, in an indiscriminate attack on the general public. The ensuing public response in the aftermath of this attack was to pour positive energy into the city by means of public vigils, speeches, gatherings, prayers, dances, music, hugs, etc.
I was contacted by Oracles Teatre company to photograph their contribution to the communal efforts; a peace walk along La Rambla. Here is the public call to movement, published by Orland Verdú, founder of Oracles Teatre, and the photographs I took of the three & a half hour walk that followed:
Mou-te!

'1000 AND ONE FLOWERS' March for the peace.
Today August 18 at 8:00 PM at Plaza Colom.
Come with a flower & in white clothes. We will transform the pain.
As a response to violence and terrorist attack, and not to be paralysed by impotence and horror, from Oracles Teatre we arrange a public march for unity and love. Together we can forge new paths.
From art, we decided to transform pain into prayer: a flower that rises over hatred and wars. Let's march together tonight and remember - step by step - that we are alive and that we can build another world.
1000 and one flowers.
1000 and one nights.
1000 and one steps...
The peace is built along the way.
Move! Move the pain with the heart well open!
