Two days after the Catalan referendum, at which much violence was meted out by Spanish riot police upon the voters, it was decided by the Catalan parliament that there would be a general strike called, & on the 3rd Oct Barcelona shut down.
There were two main street demonstrations arranged; at noon people were to gather at Plaça Universitat & 18hrs at Jardins de Salvador Espriu. It was to the latter I headed to garner the selection of images presented in this post. The several thousand presence comprised all ages & there was much chanting, singing, flag waving & high spirited camaraderie.
