The fine spring weather is upon us in Barcelona, which means much more time spent outside, in exploration of the city's ripped back sides. There has been a cool breeze whipping along the coast northwards recently, & a few overcast & showery days, but mainly it's been bright & sunshiney.
This week I had nothing specific in mind for the blog, so I took three afternoons of pure exploration by bicycle; just picked a direction each day & hit the streets with eyes wide open.

...though I did kind of have a theme in my mind for this blog, vaguely. I asked a friend this week for a suggestion, & the reply I got was 'dirt, dirty corners of the city'. Dirt, I found, is not easy stuff to dress up & lacks a vital visual allure (unless you are a worm perhaps, or a dung beetle), but, with it in mind, my attention was naturally drawn to areas of urban decay; which, on the contrary, carry within them the magnetic presence of the neglected spirits of their original creators & previous inhabitants...
...and along the way found a few other interesting artistic creations, tucked away in small public gardens & down shadowy back-streets...
...as well as some interesting landscape compositions...
...and, of course, some dirt...
