Barcelona has a lot of street art, it seems to be culturally more acceptable here than in England, where you can often see council workers painting over it, especially if the work is politically motivated.
The surroundings which we inhabit offer to the street artist a giant multi-dimensional equivalent of their own personal magazine or newspaper, with which to express, visually, anything that motivates them to connect to the world at large.
I spent a couple of days this past week harvesting, in photographic form, a varied cross-section of graffiti & street art from 2 areas of Barcelona; Poblenou & Gràcia, the latter barri yielding by far the greatest in quantity & diversity. My choice of which pieces to photograph was guided primarily by the physical quality of the image.
